We have adapted the ways we study, enjoy fellowship, and worship together because of the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. While we worship together in-person and online every Sunday morning, many of our small groups have made the decision to do meet in person, Zoom or do a combination of both. This hybrid option has allowed members from our faith community who live outside of our immediate area to continue participating in the incredible conversations and faith formation that occurs in our small group studies.
If you have any questions or would like more information on any of the opportunities listed below, please call the church office at 814-734-3182 or email office@edinboroumc.org. You can also find out more by visiting the Calendar section of our website.
Adult Sunday School
Each Sunday morning at 8:30 a.m. via ZOOM, our adult Sunday School class meets - the first half hour is devoted to catching up on each others lives then at 9:00 a.m. the discussion turns to the current study and enjoy fellowship. No matter where a person is on their discipleship path, this class offers an opportunity to grow, engage, and ignite a love of Christ in all.
Disciple Bible Study
DISCIPLE is a program of disciplined Bible study aimed at developing strong Christian leaders.
The study gives the Old and New Testaments equal time, emphasizing the wholeness of the Bible as a revelation of God. DISCIPLE draws upon the work of scholars, the personal Bible reading and study of the participant, and dynamic group discussion to aid understanding of the Bible.
There are currently two classes occurring: Every other Monday and every Wednesday evening.
Tuesday Night Faith Formation
Our Tuesday Night Movie Discussions continue this fall. These discussion offer an opportunity to engage in meaningful conversation about faith and community as it is portrayed in different thought-provoking ways through film. Participants watch each week's movie on their own time and at their own pace, and then come together on Tuesday nights from 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. via ZOOM for fellowship and discussion about the movie. The current movie for each week can be found under the Calendar tab above and scan to the day of discussion. There you will find the name of the movie, what media you can use to watch the movie, a brief description of what the movie is about and who will be leading the discussion for movie night.
If you are interested in participating, please email office@edinboroumc.org to be added to the email list.
Wednesday "Early Risers" Men's Book Study
Combining food, fellowship, and faith formation by way of changing book studies, the Wednesday "Early Risers" Men's group is currently taking place in person at 7:00 a.m. at EUMC.
Women's Book Group
Every Thursday morning at 9:00, participants of our Women's Book Group meet via ZOOM to discuss the group's current book choice. The topics and themes vary, but all book choices contribute to a deeper understanding of our personal and collective relationships with God, and how we can live into the work God calls us
Kindergarten - 3rd Grade: Sundays during our 11:00 a.m. worship service
4th - 6th Graders: Sunday during our 11:00 a.m. worship service
7th-12th Grades: Sundays at 10:15 a.m.
Our children and youth continue to be committed to their Christian education, fellowship, and faith formation!!! With the leadership of Kathy Rankin, Irene Smith and our Director of Youth and Family Ministries, our children and youth meet weekly in person and get together for outdoor outreach and fellowship opportunities.
Children and youth in kindergarten through 6th grade join their parents in worship each Sunday morning and then after a brief children's message during the service, join their teachers for the weekly Christian Education/Sunday School class. It's a great way to keep kids involved in the worship service each week as well as having the opportunity to engage in learning the familiar Bible stories and exploring their faith. On Communion Sunday (the first Sunday each month), children and youth remain with their parents throughout the entire service so that they can fully participate in the Sacrament of Communion.
Even with all of their other commitments and time spent doing virtual learning or in-person learning, the opportunity to be together as a faith community is important to them and they prioritize the opportunities! They are an incredible group of people and our congregation is blessed by their commitment, compassion, and individual and collective faith journeys.
If you have children or youth who would like to plug in, please contact the church office by emailing office@edinboroumc.org or calling 814-734-3182.
You can find out more about what's happening with our children and youth programs by liking the Edinboro UMC Facebook page.
Uncorked Conversations
A weekly meeting every Thursday night at 7:00 p.m. via ZOOM, Uncorked Conversations is an opportunity for fellowship and conversation. This time is informal and offers great flexibility for those who want to connect in a less structured way than a study group offers.
The United Methodist Church has 13+ million members globally and more than 45,000 local churches - including Edinboro UMC. Our mission is making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.
The Western Pennsylvania Conference is made up of about 800 local churches in 23 counties. Total membership is just over 150,000. The Conference serves as a connection between the worldwide United Methodist Church and the congregations in the region.
As the humanitarian relief and development arm of The United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Committee on Relief assists United Methodists and churches to become involved globally in direct ministry to persons in need.
While the list above does not list every organization or agency that we partner with, these are our most frequent partners in mission, and we continue to work with them actively throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.
We welcome you regardless of race, ethnicity, age, marital status, gender identity, sexual orientation, social or economic status, physical and mental ability, or religious affiliation. All persons are of sacred worth. We are all God’s beloved children.
